Grace Savoy-Burke is an MS candidate in Entomology at the University of Delaware. With the help of the USGS and a team of citizen scientists, she is studying the diversity of native pollinators in forest fragments throughout Delaware and Maryland. She will also be looking at the diversity of parasitic wasps, which play vital roles in regulation of insect populations within ecosystems and are effective biological control agents. Through this research she hopes to increase our understanding of the ecological requirements and factors affecting the distribution of native bees and parasitoids to improve strategies for their management and conservation in fragmented landscapes.
