Owen Cass honored in UD’s new collaboration with Mt. Cuba Center
We grafted queen cells from one of our best colonies last week, and I’ve got say they look great!
Prep for this week‘s Apiculture lab at UD. We looked at a bunch of different methods to monitor for Varroa mites: sticky boards, powdered sugar rolls, alcohol washes, and even got to try my new CO2 device. Thankfully we had very low Varroa levels in all of the hives we tested.
We had a beautiful Ag Day this year at University of Delaware. There was quite a crowd at the “bee cage” for live demos, and we got to educate hundreds of people about honey bees and other pollinators. Thanks to everyone who came! #udbeeteam #agday #honeybees #pollinators #spring
Despite some interruptions from the residents at our new location, we got our new research apiary set up this morning! #brewershideawayfarm #udbeeteam #galaxythecow #princessthehorse
Hanging some swarm trap boxes this year for the ones that get away. Wish us luck!
