Owen Cass, M.S. candidate in entomology and Mt. Cuba Center Fellow, was recognized on July 9th 2014 for his role in the University of Delaware’s new research partnership with Mt. Cuba. Owen will use this opportunity to study and compare the ecological value of cultivars and native flowers by examining the pollen content and nutritional value of these flowers. Additionally, Owen will use the diverse selection of flowers present at Mt. Cuba Center to develop a pollen library for commercial and hobbyist beekeepers. Emily Baisden, M.S. candidate in entomology was recognized as well for the cultivar research she will be conducting with Mt. Cuba Center.
